Gluten Free Cooking Classes
The classes run weekly on Saturdays from 10.30 to 1.30 subject to numbers. You can book any class you may be interested in for the day that is most suitable to you. I do recommend however, that the first class you choose is "Simple Beginnings". This class encompasses basic baking techniques, tools of the trade and the products that are safe to use for those sensitive to gluten.
As the classes are made for one on one instruction, the maximum number of people in a class is four. That way the pace is set by your ability, and plenty of time can be given when you need it. No prior baking knowledge is required, as you will learn along the way. The cost for each class is $150.00 (including GST) and includes all ingredients, the products you have made and will take home and the recipes you have baked from that day. At the end of the class a sample of your baking will feature during afternoon tea.
Starter packs will be available for purchase for each of the classes you attend so you can go home and immediately start baking.
The classes available are as follows:
You will learn the basics of baking in this simple introductory class.
Recipes featured are:
Chocolate Slice: Learn how to make this simple slice that you can vary to your family’s tastes. Ideal for kids to help with or even to make themselves if they require no supervision.
Pizza: A delicious pizza base that rivals any other product on the market.
Choc Chip Biscuits: A very simple biscuit recipe that you will enjoy adapting to suit your taste buds.
PASTRY - SWEET AND SAVOURY
Gluten Free pastries are simple to make at home and just require a food processor and rolling pin. With easy instruction you will make beautiful pastry dishes that are sure to impress.
As pastry is traditionally a high dairy cuisine, please advise if you have a dairy intolerance so that I can allow for this by using Nutlex and soy cream cheese where necessary. Please also advise if you have a FODMAP allergy as there are some ingredients I will need to avoid using.
European baking is a very elegant and flavour-driven style of patisserie that often uses ingredients such as poppy seeds, nuts and jams.
In this class you will be making a Linzer Torte and a Whole Almond Chestnut cake. Both cakes are simply divine to eat and quite easy to prepare.
Be mindful if you have any form of nut allergy as this class will not be suitable for you, though both cakes can be made dairy free.
The most asked for gluten free product is a really good bread. These breads are a snap to bake and are very impressive
A white bread that is good for sandwiches, toast and bread rolls and easily adaptable to a variety of other breads
French Baguettes for entertaining
Focaccia with toppings that are limited only by your imagination
